I have read so many posts about this topic and thought a lot before writing this one…… but it has been bugging me so much that I thought I should just go ahead and let it all out!!!!
I wish that they made cartoons today the same way they did when we grew up….old cartoons were cute and had positive messages unlike some of the ones we see today…. Even the ones that they brought back don’t have the same spirit in them!!!
For example look at how the Strawberry Shortcake cartoon is now and how it was back then!
The 80′s Strawberry people were so cute and they were actually reminiscent of the sugary treats that gave them their names. Now the characters look more like teenagers!!.. Why were they made taller, and thiner?…. and why do all of them have straight hair?… and why is strawberry shortcake in Pink? aren’t strawberries red?…
Another example is My Little Pony.
Every little girl had to have a pony in those days… I remember my sisters and I had all the little ponies… we loved them… I mean who could resist those cute ponies?….They were just adorable!…. But now they look like a cross between Pokemon and some strange crazy horse!!!…. It’s those eyes!!… they’re just scary!!!
A 3rd example is Rainbow Brite
This was one of our very favorite cartoons growing up! Each character was so obviously a color of the rainbow. Sadly today’s characters look like a bunch of teenagers who wanna look like Barbie!!!
As a parent I keep on wondering what sort of messages those cartoons creators are trying to send to our kids? And I keep on wondering why did they change the images of those cartoon characters that were much cuter and age appropriate? ….
Well there you go!!!!….I let it all out!!! …. not feeling much better though!!!!
I agree, these days kids r taught to be insensitive, materialistic & care about superficial things… Sad.

I’m guessing that they wanted to take on a “modern look” for these old characters. And two things. *Starting my rant* With Strawberry Shortcake, it just went COMPLETELY downhill. Personally, I liked the 2003 version of Strawberry Shortcake. (I wasn’t born in the 80′s.) And during the 2003 era, they created a whole ton of characters. And after the 2009 era started, only 6 characters survived from the 2003 era. And their looks don’t even look like the one’s from the 80′s At ALL! (Then again, this is 2012 and the very old ones are from the 80′s. Big gap there.)
With My Little Pony, don’t even get started on the ridiculous fan base I’ve seen these days. It’s only getting worse every second. (And not to mention that these “fans” are like, teens.)
With Rainbow Brite…Don’t know anything about them. XD *Shot* But with the new appearance, I can’t judge the age, due to her face. DX But I say that she looks like a 10 year old with her body, but her face looks like a 16 year old. What’s up with that?!?
